With drought like conditions throughout much of the state, it is anticipated that corn will mature more rapidly than normal and that corn silage harvest may soon begin. Anecdotes have been reported of farmers cutting or planning to cut silage next week.

A website has been created by Greg Johll (UWEX) for viewing data on corn silage drydown progress in Wisconsin. The data is derived from local county agent observations and measurements. The web site URL for viewing drydown progress is: http://cf.uwex.edu/ces/ag/silagedrydown. Individuals can summarize data by county, across counties and by production regions.
