Harvest Season

last updated September 30, 2011

Corn harvesting begins with some fields green-chopped and quickly proceeds to silage harvest, high moisture corn and dry corn harvest. Often stover is harvested after dry grain harvest and used as bedding material. Increasingly, corn fields are being looked at for biomass harvest as well.

This season is an important time of the year when all of the challenges of the growing eason come to fruition. It is truly when farmers "make their money" and the effects of their management decisions during the season are realized.
